11/19/2023 0 Comments Books like addie larue![]() ![]() It isnt the boy meets girl I was interested in, I was hoping for some real thought provoking, philosophical and existential reflection. There was nothing poignant or philosophical other than the odd line of 'what is a life if you leave no impact on the world' which I understand was the whole premise of the book but that could have been done in about half as many pages and maybe then it wouldn't have been so tedious. I actually do enjoy slow building plots it just felt like it wasnt even building, the situations Addie found herself in were repetitive and didn't bring anything extra. It isnt s much that I wanted more action and faster pace. I'd say if you want more plot development/more action/faster pace I definitely recommend her "Shades of Magic" and "Vicious" series, otherwise if you're looking for a similar premise (girl meets boy under strange circumstances but with much better plot development) I'd say go for her "The Archived" series instead. Schwab has always been good at describing action and pacing her scenes, if this had the support of good actors to convey the emotions in a show or movie I think it'll do much better. However with saying that, Addie LaRue reads like it will work better as a live action adaption. For her last two books (Addie and Gallant) it felt like she started experimenting with a more poetic writing style and was a bit disappointed with the execution for both and were the first books from her that I couldn't finish. I've been a fan of the author for a long time now and it was quite different from her usual writing style (her previous books I loved was the Shade of Magic and Vicious series).
